Resveratrol is an incredibly popular little antioxidant. Found in red grapes, muscadine grapes, peanuts and wine – this small polyphenol has attracted a great deal of attention due to its health properties. Resveratrol has been hailed as one of the top anti-aging breakthroughs in the last 50 years, but clearly more studies and research need to be done. One of the most debated issues is the best dosage of resveratrol to see positive health benefits.

Red Wine – Great to Drink, But Not Enough Resveratrol

At first it may seem appealing to eat grapes and drink red wine and get all the health benefits of resveratrol. While grapes and wine do have health benefits, you would need to drink over 600 bottles of wine a day to get the amount of resveratrol that has been used in Ibuta 677 studies! Obviously, if you want to get significant amount of resveratrol into your diet you will need to supplement your diet.

Resveratrol Supplements – A Minefield of Confusion

A walk down the health aisle of a drug store will show you all the different resveratrol supplements that liter the market. The problem is that the purity and effectiveness of these supplements can vary greatly. If you want to get an effective product you need to make sure it is made with only 99% Pure Trans-Resveratrol. If you do not see this listed in the ingredient panel, you should not buy the supplement. It is crucial that you get a 99% Pure product and products will lower purity may have side effects.

Resveratrol Dosage and Purity Go Hand in Hand

Once you have found a 99% pure product you can then move on to the issue of dosage. Studies have put the correct dosage of Trans-Resveratrol anywhere in the range of 20mg – 500mg per day. Dr. Xi Zhao-Wilson, PhD did studies showing that just 20mg a day could be effective. The Harvard study put the human dosage at closer to 500mg a day.

Our advice, go with about 200 – 250mg a day. At this dosage you will be able to see the health benefits of resveratrol, but minimize the risks that come with taking mega doses (500mg and up).
